The Organs of the Body – How they Function, and Ways to Care for them

According to experts, there are 78 organs in the human body. The organs of the body are fully differentiated structural and functional units in your system that are specialised for some particular functions. Below are some of the very important organs of the body and their functions towards maintaining your total well-being.

Care for your organs

No matter how you view it, every organ is equally as important as any other. According to a renowned health expert and cancer researcher, Ray Schilling, all of our organs “contribute to our wellbeing. So, be glad they are all working. Keep them healthy by watching your lifestyle, exercise regularly and stay off junk food and processed food.

The brain
Your brain is the control centre of your nervous system and is situated inside the skull. Its functions include muscle control and coordination, sensory reception and integration, speech production, memory storeroom, as well as the expansion of thought and emotion. The lungs

The bladder
The bladder is a muscular organ positioned in the pelvic cavity. It stretches to accumulate urine and contracts to let out urine. If you care for it, empty your Bladder before going to bed.
The kidneys
The kidneys are two bean-shaped organs positioned behind the abdominal cavity, one on each side of the spinal column. Their purpose is to maintain the body’s chemical equilibrium by removing waste products and surplus liquid in the form of urine. If you care for your Kidney drink a lot of water during the day, drink less water at night.
The heart
Your heart is hollow in nature; it is a muscular organ that drives blood through the blood vessels through repeated, rhythmic contractions. If you care for your Heart avoid excess salt.
The stomach
The stomach is a muscular, elastic, pear-shaped bag, resting across in the abdominal cavity below the diaphragm. Its major function is digestion of food through manufacture of gastric juices which break down, mix and mix the food into a watery liquid. If you care for your Stomach avoid cold food.

The intestines
The intestines are positioned amidst your stomach and the anus and are divided into two main segments called - the small intestine and the large intestine. The job of the small intestine is to soak up most ingested food. The large intestine is positioned to absorb water and expel solid waste materials from your body. If you care for your Intestines replace junk food with vegetables.
