It has been established that several factors may be
responsible for your asthma attacks, and you should be aware of them. It is
these same factors that lead to difficulties or crises experienced by sufferers
such as difficulty in breathing, tightness in the chest, coughing in the early morning
and night, and wheezing; these are the main signs of this ailment which affects
the lungs. Scientists explain that the causative agents usually are factors
such as some specific foods, dust, allergens and many other irritants which are
capable of triggering an asthma attack.

In asthma attacks, the airways which comprise of tiny tubes
that carry air to and from the lungs become inflamed, and as a result they
become narrowed, thereby restricting the flow of air into the lungs. This,
experts say is what leads to asthma symptoms like coughing, breathlessness,
wheezing, and the rest. Researchers say so far, about 300 million people all
over the world have the disease, causing an estimated 250,000 deaths each year!
Asthma affects people of all ages, but it is known to
start most often during childhood. Rapid urbanisation, coupled with
environmental factors has however been associated with an increased prevalence
of this disease experts say. And according to Dr. Saheed Babajide, a medical
practitioner, “asthma is a chronic respiratory problem. It is caused by a
constriction in the bronchus from allergic reaction which makes the patient not
to be able to breathe in and out. It is difficulty in breathing; it can be
likened to somebody that is a sickler. Some can have it early. Some can develop
it through the environment and due to allergic reactions. That is exposure to things
that can make the bronchus to contract.”
