How to Resolve Rumbling Stomach

Most at times when people observe some unusual (rumbling) noise emanating from their stomach, Nigerians are quick to conclude it must be worm infestation. Sometimes they will simply say “oh, my stomach must be dirty and so I need to take some purgative or, I need to ‘deworm’ myself”. The issue is not so much as to whether it is wrong or right to ‘deworm’ yourself or take some kind of purge medicine. But the main problem is that most people simply do not get to understand what exactly is going on in their stomach.

The fact is that the occasional noise or rumbling you hear coming from your stomach most of the time is not necessarily a danger signal or anything to panic about; it’s what is referred to medically as borborygmus. Medical experts and researchers have done a lot to make us understand this phenomenon and know how to approach it by way of prevention or treatment. When you hear or feel this rumbling again in your tummy, just remember that it simply means that there is a movement of gas coupled with a contraction of the intestinal muscles, or peristaltic movement of the bowel. Though this will usually have its underlying reasons but may not necessarily be anything too serious most of the time. 

Causes of rumbling stomach

Hunger: A good percentage of the times you experience rumbling is clearly indicative of the fact that you are hungry. Your system is simply signaling through your brain to your intestines and stomach, that they are empty and you need to refill, or fill up your tank.

Digestion: Sometimes you hear your stomach rumbling just a few moments after you have had a meal depending on the kind of food you ate of course. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this as well. It only means that your food is being broken down for your body to be able to use it. This is the process of digestion or combustion, at which food is being burned up as it were, or in the case of unfinished digestion whereby bacteria living in the intestinal tract come to participate in the process. But it is not all the time that you get to hear the noise of this process, but like I said, it also depends on the kind of meal or drink that you took, as some foods and beverages are more likely to produce gas than others.

Aerophagia: This condition refers to having too much air in the stomach. This happens usually with people who eat hastily, an action that makes one take in so much air while eating or drinking. Sometimes people who are under stress and anxiety are also prone to this condition which is usually followed by belching, tummy discomfort and flatulence.

The Great Health Benefits of Yoghourt

Curd, which is popularly called Yoghourt, is made from milk and has been found to be a very healthy food (drink) for the entire family and population. This wonderful dairy food product is made from fermented milk and has been discovered to be a highly refreshing and therapeutic drink and food. Yoghourt is prepared from the milk of cow especially in Europe and America, and also in Nigeria, while in India, buffalo milk is the most treasured. In Russia however, the milk of sheep, goats and mare are largely used for this purpose for the production of yoghourt.

In preparing yoghourt, the purest and best quality milk is used - the milk is boiled for about ten minutes, brought down to be cooled to a lukewarm temperature before it is curdled for making your delicious product and health food. After this, freshly cultured starter is added to the milk and mixed very well; about one teaspoonful of starter is always enough for a quantity of 500 ml. of milk. The all important starter is actually a culture containing yeast or a bacterium that is used to start the process of fermentation or souring in making our yoghourt. This same form of active micro organisms are also added in the processes that are involved in the making of butter or cheese, or dough for baking bread, etc.

 It takes between 8 to 16 hours for the milk to curdle very well depending on the temperature of the environment in which you are working. In cold weather you might even need to cover the milk with a thick blanket and store in a warm place at the same time to help it; it will thus take a longer time to curdle or coagulate to a firm mass of curd – say about 12 to 16 hours. But in hot weather, the milk will normally take a shorter time to curdle – like 6 to 8 hours will be needed for a good formation.

Thus, yoghourt is formed simply by the mixing of bacteria and milk, hence we know that naturally, there are good bacteria as well that are required for the enhancement and preservation of the quality of life of man. Some of these good bacteria are the same that live in or co-habit with animals and human beings at various parts of the body. In reality, they are a beneficial set of bacteria that are found in the intestinal tract of healthy mammals, experts say; they also are often considered to be, or classified as a form of plant life. They are therefore known as probiotics or probiotic flora.

How to Use Acupressure to Treat Stress

For many centuries the Chinese have been engaged in traditional medicine that is very unique and highly effective. Oriental medical art as I would love to refer to this brand of medical health practice, has since soared beyond the borders of even the Asian continent to Europe, the Americas, and even the rest of the world. Six Natural Ways to Prevent Cancer

By now you must have discovered for yourselves that cancer is so serious a health issue that cannot be dismissed with just one explanation; from my previous write-ups on this matter, you will easily know that the scourge of cancer generally is just as complicated as the question of the causative factors.
